Overview: Low box training represents one of many different tools available to the football coach looking to implement a diversified and well-rounded speed and agility program into their coaching arsenal. Utilizing one, two or multiple 4”, 6” or 12” “boxes” (usually leg length dependent), athletes are put through a variety of low to medium impact plyometric courses with (rubber cord) and without resistance. The agility required for the foot to “clear” each box coupled with minimal ground contact in multi-planar movements play a role in shortening reaction times, enhancing proprioception throughout the ankle, hip and knee and makes use of critical Type IIb (“2b”) muscle fibers in maximizing speed.
